MUSIC VIDEO SWEDE TASK

To hone those all important practical skills you now have a task of planning, filming and editing a 30 to 60 second segment of a music video.

This will be a SWEDE which is a re-creation of a professional video. In this case, a music video.

In groups, you will plan, film and edit the video over 3 lessons.

The professional music video that you choose to replicate must:

1. Follow generic conventions

2. Include a range of shot types and angles

3. Feature lip synching

When you film you MUST:

1. Use manual exposure settings (Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO)

2. Use Manual Focus

SCHEDULE:

LESSON 1       Planning 

- choose a conventional professional music video 

- write a detailed shot list that includes information about EXACT shot duration,

   actor movements, shot type, angle, movement etc.

- Watch Youtube tutorials like the one below and experiment with pulling/maintaining focus manually and exposure settings.

How to Focus effectively (remember NO AUTOMATIC FOCUS IS ALLOWED)

LESSON 2:   Filming

 - Film all of your footage. While filming, pay very close attention to your shot list (Remember this needs to be as close to an exact replica of the original music video as possible). Always have the music track playing while filming, especially during filming of the lip synch shots but also during the shots where there isn't any singing so that movements of your actors match the tempo and mood of the track.

- Upload your footage.


LESSON 3:    Editing

- Start and COMPLETE the editing of your music video swede. Again, pay meticulous attention to your shot list AND the original music video.
